Personal care can support bathing, dressing, meals, and other daily-living needs in the home.
Caregivers often work alongside family members when the plan includes that communication.
Work stays inside the authorized plan. PCA staff do not independently change clinical orders.
Some assignments emphasize supervision and social support rather than hands-on ADLs.
Virginia licensed home-care organizations use the home-attendant pathways in 12VAC5-381-290. Meeting a pathway does not guarantee Eden employment. CNA is not required for every PCA.

Clock-in and clock-out matter because visits need a truthful record. Applicable Medicaid-funded services may use Electronic Visit Verification (EVV). Not every role uses identical EVV requirements. The Applicant Center is not the EVV system.
Clock-in and clock-out help show that an authorized visit occurred.
Start and end times support a truthful record of the visit.
Time records help payroll use the visit that actually happened — not an estimate.
Programs that authorize a set amount of service need accurate visit timing.
Applicable Medicaid-funded services may use Electronic Visit Verification (EVV).
Knowing who provided which service, and when, supports safety and service accountability.
Personal care is delivered from a written plan. Where personal-care rules apply, that plan is developed by a registered nurse with the client and family.
PCA/Caregiver staff do not add skilled nursing procedures on their own. If a task is not in the plan, training, and authorization, do not perform it.
Supervisors and nursing leadership can clarify what the assignment allows.
Notice changes in mobility, skin, mood, environment, or safety.
Report important changes through the assigned supervisor or on-call path — not through public chat.
A PCA/Caregiver is not a nurse. Clinical judgment that requires a license is not a PCA duty.
